The Lone Bellow (Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, and Brian Elmquist) joined Amber Hoback from home to explain the name of their new album, chat about the experience of recording in Roy Orbison’s (haunted) house, and to perform an intimate and emotional set from Love Songs for Losers.

The Lone Bellow’s newest full-length effort, Love Songs for Losers, marks a key moment in the trio’s development. Having worked with Aaron Dessner on Then Came the Morning and eight-time Grammy-winner Dave Cobb on Walk Into a Storm, the band struck out on their own to record and produce Love Songs for Losers while sequestered in the former home of the legendary Roy Orbison.

Ahead of two sold-out performances, Goose joined WNRN for a VIP member-only session recorded live from the stage at The National in Richmond. They played a mini-set and spoke with WNRN host Desiré Moses about recording their new album, Dripfield, cultivating an audience, and meeting Phish frontman Trey Anastasio. Musician, photographer, documentary filmmaker and published author Julian Lennon joins WNRN’s Desiré Moses for a Home Studio Session to promote his new album, Jude. His first full-length release in 11 years, Jude incorporates newly-written tracks with reworked demos from the ’80s that were recently discovered in a box of old tapes. The album’s title is a nod to The Beatles’ hit “Hey Jude,” which Paul McCartney infamously wrote for Julian. In this session, we’ll take a listen to songs from the new album as Lennon discusses his philanthropic work along with his family and musical legacy.
